It sucks when you’ve got a new product idea and your customer research proves that your assumptions were wrong and no one really wants your product. It sucks way more when you don’t do any research and spend months (or years) building the wrong thing.


New product ideas are easy. But..... finding actual customers who NEED, WANT and WILL PAY FOR your product? That’s the hard part.


If your product sucks, no amount of marketing can save you.


Don’t sell products. Sell outcomes.


Being wicked smart/creative won’t shield you launching stuff that flops. The market doesn’t care how clever you are. All they care about is well you solve their problems.


Perfectionism is just procrastination with a snooty accent. Just ship it already.


It’s way, wayyy harder to make people want stuff than it is to sell stuff people want. Translation? If you haven’t nailed the market need and the product positioning, you can funnel oodles of money into acquisition, but it will still feel painfully slow.


If you're trying to find early adopters for a new product or service... Sometimes rather than asking "Who?" you should instead ask "When?" Do you know *when* a potential customer might be triggered to start looking for a solution like yours? If not, start there.


Making complex things easy to understand is wayyyyy harder than you may think. But it pays off.


Building stuff is relatively easy today. Building demand for stuff is hard. Plan accordingly.


Whenever you can, build an audience *before* you build your product. Trust me—your future self will thank you. 🤗
